Step One

Make sure your Yoto Mini is powered off and unplugged before doing any maintenance.

Step Two

Remove the rubber feet from the bottom of the Yoto Mini with your fingers or the blue prizing tool.

Step Three

The case is held together by two Philips screws found under the rubber feet. Remove the two screws with the screwdriver provided inside your battery replacement kit.

Step Four

Open the rear cover from the bottom of the Yoto Mini, using the blue prizing tool provided. Please note - Do not attempt to open the cover from the front at the top of the Yoto Mini.

Step Five

To remove the case, start at the bottom and rotate the back off as shown.

Moderate force is required here to release the clips at the top of the Yoto Mini. You may hear a sharp click when the back case releases from the body.

Step Six

The battery assembly is held in place by two Phillips screws found on each side of the battery. Remove the two screws with the screwdriver provided.

Step Seven

Gently pull the battery assembly away from the body of the Mini to reveal the two cables and their sockets. Note that cables connected to the larger plug may or may have black insulation padding.

Step Eight

Remove the two cables from their sockets with your fingers.

Plugs may be glued in place, but they can be removed by gently moving the connectors, side to side, to help loosen from the sockets.

Step Nine

Please dispose of all old parts including rubber feet, screws and the old battery.

Please follow the procedures established by the relevant local collection center or local authority for lithium batteries, as there may be different requirements for recalled batteries. Check Yoto FAQs on support.yotoplay.com for more guidance.

Warning: Do not damage or pierce the battery. Do not reuse the defective battery or keep as a spare. Old batteries must be disposed of at a battery recycling center. Do not dispose of the old battery via household waste as this is a fire risk.

Step Ten

With the new battery assembly, attach the two plugs to the sockets shown.

Attach the smaller plug with the terminals facing upward and attach the larger plugs with the terminals facing downward or the equivalent.

Important - Please make sure the connectors are securely attached.

Step Eleven

Once cables are attached, gently push the battery assembly into the Yoto Mini.

Please ensure that the NFC reader opening on the new battery assembly is at the top of the Yoto Mini and that the wires are not trapped or pinched when the battery assembly is in place.

Step Twelve

Secure the battery assembly in place with the two new longer Phillips screws, using the screwdriver provided.

Insert the screws to the holes on each side of the battery, this will help to correctly align the screws with the screw holes and firmly attach the battery and NFC assembly to the Yoto Mini.

The battery will only be partially charged and will require a full charge before use.

Step Thirteen

When re-fitting the case, start by attaching the top, as shown, and closing fully at the bottom of the Yoto Mini.

Step Fourteen

Secure the case with the two shorter Phillips screws provided.

Step Fifteen

Then cover the screws with the new rubber feet provided. Please ensure that the new feet are attached securely to the player.

Final Step

It is important to register your new battery so that we know when you have completed the installation, it also means we can optimize your Yoto Mini’s performance.

Do this by scanning the QR code found on the side of the battery packaging and filling out a simple form on our website.

After installation your Yoto Mini is now safe to switch on.

Disposing of your old battery
