Oliver Twist was born into hardship. As a young orphan, he grew up in the harsh conditions of a nineteenth-century English workhouse. After being sold to a shopkeeper for daring to ask for “more” gruel, Oliver decides to escape in search of a better life. Alone and afraid, he sets off for the streets of London. 

Upon arrival, Oliver meets Fagin and the Artful Dodger, and things begin looking up. But he quickly learns there is more than meets the eye to his new companions and is thrust into a world of crime.
