Yoto Mini Battery Replacement Kit

If you are an owner of a Yoto Mini sold between 2021 and 2023, we need you to take some further action so you can continue to enjoy your device.

If you own one of these Yoto Minis, you may recall that we contacted you in April 2024. At the time, we informed you of a safety issue with the lithium pouch battery. The issue meant that the battery may overheat when the device is being charged. We offered all owners a free Yoto Mini Smart Cable and implemented an automatic software update.

Following a successful roll out in Australia, we are now undertaking further voluntary action in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPCS) and Health Canada, offering a free Battery Replacement Kit to all affected customers who own a Yoto Mini manufactured between 2021 and 2023. This is because there has been a very small number of additional reports of overheating and, in some cases, the Smart Cable was being used. We have investigated, and know that when this happened, the Yoto Mini had a battery that had gone completely flat (i.e. after a prolonged period of the Yoto Mini not being used).

Replacing the battery will remove the risk of overheating which is associated with the old batteries in the 2021-2023 edition.

All Yoto Mini owners who have a device manufactured between 2021 and 2023 will be eligible for a free Battery Replacement Kit (one per device) and will be emailed and contacted via the Yoto App with instructions to request their kit even if they’ve already received the Smart Cable as part of prior recall.

The Battery Replacement Kit has been successfully rolled out in Australia, alongside the Smart Cable. Used together, they provide a longer battery life equivalent to that found in the 2024 Yoto Mini edition, whilst also protecting against component failure and power surges.
